Kyalami 1,000 Kilometers: November 3rd, 1984

Sadly, the 1984 race at Kyalami in South Africa was not supported by many of the major teams in Group C competition, as there was a dispute over travel money and how much it would cost to ship the cars to South Africa to actually race.  The two Martini Lancia’s and the Dieter Schornstein entered Porsche 956, were the only three Group C prototypes entered, amid a field that contained two Tiga C2 cars, many national South African touring cars, such as Alfa Romeo Alfetta’s and Giulietta’s, Volkswagen Golf’s, Mazda Capella’s & RX7’s, Ford Sierra’s, BMW 530 I’s, Nissan Skyline’s, Stanza’s, and 160-Z’s, Ford Escort’s, and Toyota Corolla’s.
